Bu Ali Sina University has achieved a ranking of 401 to 500 out of 749 universities worldwide

In the first edition of the Times Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, Abu Ali Sina University managed to rank 401 to 500 out of 749 universities worldwide.

 

 

The results show the presence of 24 Iranian universities, with Bu-Ali Sina University ranked 11th among the country's comprehensive universities with a global ranking of 401 to 500.

The Times World University Rankings is one of the most prestigious international ranking systems that annually evaluates the world's top universities in various rankings (global, regional, subject, etc.), and this year, for the first time, it has ranked universities based on the level of attention to interdisciplinary sciences. The goal of this ranking is to create a method to measure the level of participation and commitment of universities to interdisciplinary sciences.

In this ranking, the world's universities are evaluated based on a survey in 3 dimensions: input, process, and output, based on 11 quantitative indicators. Based on the latest results, the database has published the 2024-2025 World University Rankings, ranking 749 universities in the world. The sources of the ranking system include self-declaration information from universities, the Scopus database and a survey of researchers worldwide.

The publications examined include journal articles, review articles, conference proceedings, books and book chapters over a five-year period (2019-2023). The ranking also examines articles published in Scopus journals (2019-2023) that were cited in the period (2019-2024). The self-declaration information of universities also relates to the performance in 2022.

The indicators used in this ranking system are as follows:

Institutions with a weight of 19% (including: interdisciplinary research income, income from industry relations in interdisciplinary sciences)

Process with a weight of 16% (including: measurement of achievements, availability of physical facilities, availability of administrative support, availability of promotion process)

Outputs with a weight of 65% (including: number of interdisciplinary research publications, share of interdisciplinary research publications, interdisciplinary citation rate, quality of interdisciplinary research, reputation)
