Bu-Ali Sina University Ranked Among Asia’s Top Universities in the Times Higher Education Rankings
Bu-Ali Sina University has achieved a position in the 401–500 band in the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings, ranking 11th among Iranian comprehensive universities included in the ranking.
According to the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings, Bu-Ali Sina University has been ranked among the top universities in Asia, placing in the 401–500 band. The university also ranked 11th among Iranian comprehensive universities participating in the ranking.
The Times Higher Education ranking system is one of the world’s leading international university ranking systems. It began evaluating and ranking universities worldwide in 2004 and has published its annual ranking of the top universities in Asia since 2013.
The 2026 Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings assessed 929 universities from 36 countries based on 18 indicators grouped into five key areas: Teaching (24.5%), Research (30%), Research Environment (28%), Industry (10%), and International Outlook (7.5%). Among the 90 Iranian universities included in the ranking, overall positions ranged from the 76–100 band to +801.
For the 2026 Times Higher Education citation indicator, citations received during the 2020–2025 period for articles published between 2020 and 2024 were used as the basis for calculation. Since citation rates vary across academic disciplines, Times Higher Education calculates citations separately across different subject areas and subsequently normalizes the results to ensure a more balanced comparison among universities.
