President of Bu-Ali Sina University: We Are Ready to Host the National Student Olympiad in 2028
Emphasizing the role of sports in promoting vitality, reducing social harms, and developing human capital, the President of Bu-Ali Sina University announced the university’s readiness to host the National Cultural and Sports Olympiad for University Students in 2028 and stressed the need to develop sports infrastructure at universities.
Dr. Gholamhossein Majzoobi, President of Bu-Ali Sina University, welcomed the participants at the 57th Meeting of Physical Education Directors of Universities and Higher Education Institutions across the country, emphasizing the important role of sports in promoting health, vitality, and dynamism within university environments.
Referring to the role of university sports in the development of sports nationwide, he said that many national champions have emerged from universities. However, he noted that university sports facilities have not developed in line with the potential and talents of students and continue to require expansion, modernization, and improvement.
The President of Bu-Ali Sina University also pointed out that modern and digital sports have not yet gained the position they deserve in universities. He added that utilizing the capacity of the private sector in developing and operating sports facilities could help address some of the existing challenges and contribute to improving sports services.
He further emphasized the importance of promoting recreational and mass sports at universities, stating that providing sports facilities in residential and dormitory complexes, particularly in colder regions, could play an effective role in increasing student participation in sports activities. Such measures, he added, could also contribute to reducing social harms, enhancing students’ vitality, and promoting their mental well-being.
Referring to the sports facilities and capacities of Bu-Ali Sina University, Majzoobi stated that the university has suitable resources and facilities in the field of sports. However, he noted that some sports equipment and infrastructure require renovation and modernization, making the allocation of the necessary funding essential.
Emphasizing the university’s academic and executive capacities, the President of Bu-Ali Sina University officially announced the university’s readiness to host the 18th National Cultural and Sports Olympiad for University Students in 2028. He expressed hope that, through cooperation with the Organization of Student Affairs, the necessary conditions could be created for the successful organization of this national event in Hamadan.
In conclusion, Majzoobi highlighted the Faculty of Sport Sciences, specialized academic faculty members, and effective cooperation with the Provincial Department of Sports and Youth Affairs as among the key capacities of Bu-Ali Sina University for the development of university sports. He expressed hope that the meeting would lead to practical solutions for addressing existing challenges and further strengthening the position of university sports across the country.
